The Tekamah City Bridge is included on the National Register of Historic Places due to its age, integrity, engineering method and manner of construction. The bridge is a concrete rigid-frame style, developed in Westchester County, New York, in the early 1920s. This particular bridge was constructed in 1934 using Depression Era federal relief money and continues to carry vehicular traffic..
The Tekamah City Bridge and Saddle Creek Underpass in Douglas County, also built in 1934, are the oldest examples of this construction in the state.
