The Cedar County Fairgrounds are located on the eastern edge of Hartington. At the Fairgrounds there is a quarter-mile dirt stock car track available for stock car races.

The Fairgrounds are also the site of the Cedar County Fari the first week of August. The fair features four days of family oriented entertainment, 4-H exhibits and open class exhibits. The fairgrounds were remodeled in 1995 and a huge new exhibit hall was added. The new facility made the fairgrounds handicapped accessible, and added new restrooms and an expanded administration office to the complex. In 1998 a new dairy beef barn was added and the main office was remodeled. The Lutheran Lunch Stand, the main eatery at the fair each year, was also renovated in 1995, enlarging the eatery and making it handicapped accessible as well.
