Steele City Blacksmith Shop: This working blacksmith shop has all the old-fashioned working gear, as well as living quarters upstairs. Open during Living History weekends and by appointment.
Livery Barn: Located just south of the old bank in Steele City, this museum houses exhibits specifically attuned to the livery trade, as well as living quarters. Here you might find a pioneer pressing cider, making butter or any number of other chores. Open during Living History weekends and by appointment.
Baptist Church: The Steele City Baptist Church, located on the northwest edge of town, remains much as it was 120 years ago when it was built. Enjoy the peacefulness and learn about the expansion of religion in the area or attend church services during flea market weekend. Open Sunday afternoons of Living History weekends and by appointment.
Steele City Exchange Bank: Visit a bank restored to the early 1900's era, complete with safe and teller counter. Living quarters are in the back of the building and a special textile working area is located in the basement of the bank. Open during Living History weekends and by appointment.
Steele City School: In addition, this three-story brick building, located in Steele City, houses Steele City alumni memorabilia as well as a paleontology exhibit and miscellaneous exhibits relating to the history of Jefferson County. Open during Living History weekends and by appointment.
The third Sunday in September, the tiny village plays host to thousands of bargain hunters and history buffs who come for the annual flea market and old farm machinery show, sponsored by the Jefferson County Historical Society. Rain or shine this event has hundreds of vendors, blacksmithing and horseshoeing demonstrations plus a working saw and shingle mill.
