Burton's Bend WMA - Along the Republican River Valley 90 acres of pasture land are maintained throughout the year to provide excellent hunting ground for common game birds.

Oxford WMA - The Wildlife Management Area near Oxford in northest Furnas County offers over 20 acres of pasture land. Oxford's land owners also offer private hunting areas.

When Furnas County organized in late 1873, Beaver City was one of the voting places designated by Governor Robert Furnas, for whom the county was named. Competing with Arapahoe for location of the county seat, Beaver City was chosen for the honor by the people. This is where it has remained.
