Gallagher and Phillips Canyon Lakes

Gallagher and Phillips Canyon Lakes Gallagher Canyon (400 acres) and Plum Creek (320 acres) offer good spring crappie fising in the coves, as well as channel and flathead catfish. Drum and carp are common catches here. Both lakes have gravel boat ramps.


Gallagher Canyon is located 10 miles west of Elwood on Highway 23; turn north at Highway 21 sign; turn east at Gallagher Canyon sign.



Phillips Canyon is a relatively unknown lake below Johnson, which offers some good fishing for walleye and white bass. There is also fair action on crappie, channel cat, and yellow perch. The boat ramp is gravel, and the dirt access road is impassable when wet.



Phillips Lake is located 4 1/2 miles north of Elwood on Highway 283; turn right on Road 747 and go 3 miles east to Road 431; then travel left 2 miles.
