The People's Museum will involve a range of exhibits, interactive displays and educational programs catering to the special needs populations. Educational programs will involve bringing exhibits to the public and to private schools and institutions, conducting museum sponsored tours, presenting oral histories using senior citizens as speakers, presenting slide shows and audio and video presentations and sponsoring archaeological digs in which students can participate. Particular attention will be paid to establishing strong bonds with community groups and schools, especially those involved with the mentally and physically challenged.

The museum has the unique advantage of being the only museum in New York specifically geared toward children and adults with special needs, particularly the mentally and physically challenged. This will involve making a unique, highly interactive exhibit space that allows for full engagement of all of the senses including touch, feel, sight, sound for a truly participatory and active experience for visitors. The People's Museum is a general educational museum.
