West Branch State Park is located in Portage Co., 19 miles east of Akron.
The meandering lake appeals to nature lovers, boaters & anglers. Miles of wooded shoreline are ideal for camping, hiking & other recreation. Hike 12 mi. of trails, mountain bike 7 mi. of trails (closed til 5/15/07), or ride your horse on 20 mi. of bridle trails (bring your own horse; closed til 4/1/07). Scenic picnic areas provide tables & grills. Picnic shelters are first-come first-served. Programs provide summer entertainment.
2,650-acre Michael J. Kirwan Lake offers a sand beach. From sailing to power boats, all boating is permitted w/no horsepower limit. Fuel, boat rental & seasonal dock rentals are available along w/4 launch ramps for easy lake access.
Enjoy fishing from shore or the lake for walleye, bass & trophy-size muskie. Hunting is permitted in designated areas. A valid Ohio fishing &/or hunting license is required.
198 non-electric/electric/full-service campsites are available. Amenities: showers, flush toilets, laundry facilities & hand water pumps. Pets permitted on designated sites.
