Hale Farm & Village is an outdoor, living history museum that depicts daily life for residents of Northern Ohio during the mid-19th century, with an emphasis on life during the years of the American Civil War. Hale Farm & Village features 32 historic buildings to tour and over 70 volunteers and employees create a slice of life in a 19th century village. Costumed interpreters demonstrate crafts including glassblowing, candle-making, spinning & weaving, blacksmithing, hearth cooking, and more.
The Farm features heirloom breeds including American Milking Shorthorn cattle, Percheron horses, Tunis sheep, an herb garden, kitchen garden and more. Hale Farm & Village brings to life the most compelling story in American history through a program entitled The Civil War Years 1861 - 1865: The Lives of Citizens and Soldiers. In two historic structures, The Goldsmith House and the Schoolhouse, costumed first person interpreters help visitors discover life in the Western Reserve and the average citizen?s struggle with the impact of the War Between the States.
