The Morgan County Museum features original artwork by Howard Chandler Christy, local boy who made good - his famous ?Christy Girls? gracing the covers of all the most popular magazines (The Ladies Home Journal, Harpers, Scribner's, Century, McClures and more) in the early 1900?s. Civil war items and much more grace this 1st class museum.
Or tour the Evelyn True Button House - filled with local artwork, period clothing, dishes and authentic quilts and linens - it is perhaps the most ?complete? Victorian home you will ever experience. It?s as if Mrs. Button has ?popped out for a bit?, and may return at any moment. This Federal-style home, built in 1836, features 12 Victorian rooms that are absolutely authentic.
The Doll House features the society?s collection of over 2,500 dolls. These dolls are of all types - and from many different eras of history.The collection includes antique leather dolls, antique china dolls, Madame Alexander ? dolls, Effanbee ? dolls, Barbie ? dolls, rag dolls, hand-made dolls, Teddy Bears, designer dolls, character dolls, movie star dolls, ethnic dolls, Native American dolls... just about every type of doll you can imagine.
