Surrounded by gardens, a life-sized bronze statue pays tribute to the thousands of coal miners who worked the mines and lost their lives.
The Coal Miners Memorial Plaza documents the impact of the coal mining industry in early Pittsburg County on the Coal miners Wall of Memories with more than 1,700 names inscribed in the wall.
The Carl Albert Historical Marker also stands in the Memorial Plaza honoring the 46th Speaker of U.S. House of Representatives, born: May 10, 1908, died: Feb. 5, 2000.
