J. I. Stipe Recreational Center The J.I. Stipe Recreational Center features separate exercise rooms for men and women each with equipment, showers, lockers and saunas. There is a racquetball court and basketball court as well as swimming pool. The Senior Citizens Center facilities included cafeteria, kitchen, and game room.

The recreation center is within close walking distance of Rotary Park with it's walking trail and pleasant scenery. Rotary Park, and eight acre park in the heart of McAlester, is a favorite with it's one mile walking and jogging trail, 14 exercise stations for all ages, Debra Saunier Pond, and 400 seat Elmer Hale Amphitheater which is available for many types of events.
