Quartz Mountain Rock Climbing Discover the rugged geology of Quartz Mountain Resort Park which is surrounded by the stark beauty of rough granite hills and outcroppings, remnants of the Wichita Mountain Range, whose peaks once stood over 20,000 feet tall. The park's fascinating geological history dating back millions of years provides a real treat for hiking and geology enthusiasts - the highlight of which may be climbing 1,950 feet high. It is excellent for rock climbing and rappelling, but bring your own climbing and rappelling equipment. The park's rugged landscape is reflected in the sparkling clear waters of Lake Altus-Lugert, a 6,260 acre haven for fishing, boating, and water sports.
