Attractive environmental education displays each about the flora and fauna of the Francis Marion National Forest. Walk along the boardwalk and experience the sights and sounds of this pristine natural area. The forest encompasses 260,000 acres, and is rich in birds and wildlife. Information about opportunities within the forest is available. Try a kayaking adventure, or a birding outing. The national forest is the site of the battle between forces of British Col. Banastre Tarleton and Revolutionary Gen. Francis Marion, "The Swamp Fox." Now this wildlife-rich 260,000-acre forest welcomes campers, hikers and picnickers. Day-use facilities $5. Buck Hall Campground is $5 parking; $15 campsite. Admission is free.
