Located on campus, the Archives and Museum is the repository for all the historic materials relating to the Citadel from its founding in 1842 to present day. There are exhibits and collections related to the Civil War but most were lost when they were shipped to Columbia for safe keeping. These records went up in flames along with a third of the city in February 1865.
