This annual festival, which generally takes place the last Sunday in April, celebrates the historic Mount Pleasant shrimping industry with the traditional Blessing of the Fleet ceremony and other fun family activities including face painting, an art show, crafts, a shrimp-eating contest and a shag dance contest. Live music is performed and local restaurants offer up seafood and other culinary creations. The event is free and free parking is available.
