category : Park

A historic marker for Parker's Ferry marks the place of some impressive earthworks probably dating from the Revolution. In 1782 the Patriots had an important supply depot at Parker's Ferry. A battle took place on the causeway leading to the ferry on August 30, 1781 when Gen. Francis Marion lay in ambush for a detachment of Royal calvary.
