The White House Inn

category : Famous Homes
The White House Inn is a Greek Revival style home with large columns topped with Ionic capitals. An affluent textile magnate, Mr. E. R. Cash, built it in the early 1900’s. In recent years the home fell into an extreme state of disrepair, but due to extensive restoration done by the previous owner, Mr. Jim White, the home has been returned to its original classic beauty. In many respects it is more beautiful than its original state. We elected to retain the name White House Inn, since without the efforts of Jim White the home would most certainly have been lost forever.
Upon entering the grandeur of the White House Inn you will be transported to an earlier era of charm and elegance. The house strongly suggests pre-civil war times in the South—a time of graceful living—fine carriages waiting at the port cochere, mint juleps, or perhaps even dancing on the wide brick veranda or rear brick patio.
At the White House Inn we have tried to combine the grace and elegance of yesteryear with the comforts of the 21st century. We have furnished the Inn with some antiques, formal and traditional furniture.
