Visitors can also see the famous "Midland Man." Anthropologist Dr. Fred Wendorf authenticated remains (calvarium, upper skull) of what is now known as the Midland Man. The discovery proves the existence of man in the Midland area 22,000 years ago; the site wa located on the Scharbauer Ranch south of the city limits. A reproduction of the remains is on display in the Midland County Historical Museum.
