The Chinati Foundation is a contemporary art museum founded by the late artist Donald Judd, dedicated to the creation and preservation of permanent installations of large-scale works or large groups of work by a small number of artists, located on a 340-acre site of the former Fort D.A. Russell.

The Chinati Foundation is accessible by guided tour only.


Admission: Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for students and seniors. Admission is free for Chinati members.
Hours: Tours are given every Wednesday through Sunday in two sections, 10 AM and 2 PM.

Visitors should wear footwear that is both comfortable and protective. Open–toe sandals and shoes are not recommended. People who have difficulty walking or need special assistance may contact the museum in advance to make special arrangements. From May through September, temperatures can reach 100F. From October through April, temperatures fluctuate between 30F and 75F. Hats, sunglasses, and sun block are always recommended.
