Take the journey to Texas with Prince Carl and his group of German colonists. Follow them as they cross the ocean and make their way into Central Texas. Admire their courage and determination to establish a new colony at the edge of Indian Territory. Live their dream of freedom, adventure and prosperity.
Exhibits, rich in local artifacts, photographic images, maps and documents, take visitors through the history and cultural heritage of New Braunfels and Comal County. Permanent and changing exhibits allow one to experience the cargo hold of an immigration ship, walk down an early 1900's main street, and enjoy the music and amusements of past and present New Braunfels. The Sophienburg Museum also offers public lectures, school programs and community events that promote the area's unique history.
