The Brenham Heritage Museum is housed in Brenham's former U.S. Post Office. The Classical Revival structure, located in downtown Brenham, was built in 1915 and is on the National Register of Historic Places. The museum features exhibits that interpret the proud history of Brenham and Washington County. A special exhibit is the Elenor Cox Lamp Collection, with examples from 1787-1940. Adjacent to the museum is a display featuring Brenham's Silsby steam fire engine. Purchased in 1879, it was one of the first steam engines in Brenham.
