Clifton, Arizona

At the heart of the Clifton Townsite Historic District is colorful and fascinating Chase Creek. It boasts 45 buildings listed on the National Register of Historic Places that are among the best-preserved examples of Territorial Period architecture in Arizona, In its heyday, Chase Creek gave Clinton a reputation as the town "tougher than Tombstone." The street was lined with numerous saloons and gambling halls from which ladies of the night operated. The spirit of those wild and romantic days remains but with modern amenities to make visitors safe and comfortable. A museum and walking tour enhance the experience.
