Celebrate Pierce City grand openings

Event Details

On May 1, 2004, the Pierce City Chamber of Commerce will kick off a month of events to "Celebrate Pierce City." May 1st will see the ribbon cuttings and grand openings of several Pierce City businesses rebuilt after the May 2003 tornado damage. Flummerfelt's Town and Country Supermarket, Thompson Family Drug, Freda Mae's, and others will participate in the grand openings.

The day will feature an old-fashioned drawing hosted by Carol Sue Hirsch at the rebuilt bandstand at 1 p.m. Live music will begin at 12:30 p.m. at the bandstand after a re-dedication ceremony at 12:20 p.m.

Tickets for the drawing will be available at local businesses. Many area residents will recall Saturday afternoon drawings at the bandstand in Pierce City to be a regular and well-attended event.
