It wouldn't be summer without the Grant Park Summer Shade Festival presented each year the 4th weekend of each August by the Grant Park Conservancy. With a juried and a non-juried Artist Market, two stages of live music, an amazing Sunday Farmers Market, plenty to eat and drink and special areas for kids, the Summer Shade Festival welcomes visitors to enjoy one of Atlanta's most beautiful public greenspaces.
For 2021 see Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/SummerShadeFestival/
This festival has earned a reputation as the place to see some of the hottest up-and-coming bands as well as a plethora of local talent with two stages and a music line-up that only gets better with each year! The Artist Market includes everything from statement jewelry to sculpture to wall art from hundreds of artists who will be onsite throughout the weekend, so that unique piece is just around the corner. In the Kids Zone, you’ll find crafts, entertainment and interactive activities galore. Don’t miss this great weekend in beautiful, historic Grant Park.
Summer Shade kicks off each year with the Adams Realtors 5K Run for the Park, allowing runners and walkers to enjoy the beautiful historic neighborhood on foot. And during the festival, Corks & Forks: A Fine Food & Wine Event welcomes several of the city’s best chefs to show off their abilities and favorite recipes to attendees who also get to enjoy wines and beers from around the world along with cooking demos and wine seminars. Select chefs at Corks & Forks will compete in the annual Steak Cook-Off, showing off their grilling skills on meat from White Oak Pastures.
From families looking for the next great puppet show to adults hoping to whoop it up one last time before fall begins, the Grant Park Summer Shade Festival makes a great way to spend a whole weekend in the great outdoors.
The Grant Park Conservancy is a non-profit organization committed to the preservation, restoration and maintenance of historic L.P. Grant Park. www.gpconservancy.org
