Event Details

This event will feature a German Mennonite meal featuring borscht (chicken & vegetable soup-no beets), homemade bread, whole hog sausage and New Years cookies. The meal will also be combined with an international craft sale featuring hand crafted items from the Mennonite Central Committee's Ten Thousand Villages such as baskets, nativity sets, jewelry and holiday decorations. There will also be a bake sale of homemade breads, cookies, peppernuts and cinnamon rolls. Proceeds are used for the operation of Manhattan Mennonite Church including social outreach projects both locally and world wide. 12-6 p.m.

Riley County Courthouse

Listed on the National Register of Historic Places the dominating limestone Courthouse was completed in 1906, built by Topeka contractor, J.B. Betts, and local contractor, Clarence Johnson. The citizens pledged $1,000 for the tower clock.

Pottawatomie Lake #2

State Fishing Lake No. 2.is located about four miles northeast of Manhattan. Pottawatomie Lake #2 is a scenic lake of about 75 acres that holds nice populations of crappie, largemouth bass and bluegill. The lake also produces impressive strings of channel catfish and holds some very nice walleyes.
