Event Details

A 4-day event that is Caney's "homecoming." Program begins on Friday and includes the opening of food and craft booths in Wark Memorial Park on Friday and Caney Valley Historical Society Banquet Friday evening; varied events all day Saturday in Wark Park, including games for kids, food and crafts, vender booths, entertainment, etc.; Quilt and Art show, car show and historical society exhibits in downtown area; the Caney High School Alumni Banquet on Saturday evening; and races at Caney Valley Speedway. Celebration concludes with an inspiring and patriotic Memorial Day program on Monday in Veterans Park across from Sunnyside Cemetery. Music by the Caney Community Singers, color guard, special speaker.

Little White School House

The first school, built in 1870, was a log cabin provided by Berryman Smith. The teacher, Mrs. O.M. \"Billie\" Smith, had 25 students enrolled. Bonds for the next school building, the Little White School House, were sold to raise $1,800 and the school was built in 1872 for $900
