Join us for our annual Safari Family Fun Day! All over downtown Chanute there will be a number of fun events - from a Petting Zoo to a welding rodeo to The Father of Aviation, Octave Chanute speaking at the Santa Fe Depot - scheduled all day!

9:30-5pm: Take a Book Safari! The Chanute Public Library will put up a Story Walk around the depot grounds for guests to read while getting their feet in motion!

10-5: The Safari Museum will be OPEN FREE to the Public

10-5: The Safari Museum will host our Annual RUBBER DUCK HUNT for kids...any child 6-12 that comes to the museum, completes a fun search for hidden rubber ducks in the museum will get one FREE entry into the museum's Annual ADVENTURE DUCK RACE scheduled to be held Saturday August 5th. Winners need not be present, so be sure to participate in the hunt whether you plan to come to the race or not!

11-12: Octave Chanute will be live and in person - thanks to Historic Interpreter Bill Nicks - and making his debut speech in the town named for him. Weather dependent, we plan to have Octave speaking behind the Santa Fe Depot, with bleacher seating provide for his audience. We would like to thank Warren Alford, the Chanute Historical Society Museum, the Chanute Public library, and Lloyd Zimmer Books & Maps for donating money to help our museum cover the costs of Octave's safe travel to Chanute!

11-5pm: The Chanute Art gallery OPEN HOUSE

11-2: The Kramer Petting Zoo will be back at the Safari Museum thanks to funding by the Chanute Area Chamber of Commerce and Office of Tourism!

1-3: Try some Old Fashioned Games put on by the Martin and Osa Johnson Safari Museum from 1-3 behind the depot

TBA: Welding Rodeo Contest presented by The Chanute Art Gallery located in the Irene Neely Hudson Park
