Strokes of Hope Charity Art Auction to benefit homeless families

United Way of Onslow County’s CAN-DO (Community Advisory Network Developing Onslow) Homeless Coalition will host its first Strokes of Hope Charity Art Auction March 2 from 11-7PM at Northwoods United Methodist Church. This event will include light food, music and the opportunity to purchase art.

Benefitting the Solutions for Stability Initiative, a program which works to rapidly rehouse homeless families with children, the art show will showcase and allow attendees to purchase art by local artists and children within the school system. Art on display will depict the artist’s interpretation of what “Hope” looks like.

Last year, 406 homeless children were identified in the Onslow County School System, which doesn’t include non-school aged children and their parents. Proceeds from the event will help build self-sufficiency and assist with resources to house local families.
