Event Details

Calling all swimmers! Pool together for a good cause and support your local community in the fight against diabetes by participating in the 23rd annual SWIM FOR DIABETES presented by Verizon Wireless. The event will take place April 4, 5, and 5 at 73 indoor pools throughout Northeast Ohio. Individuals of all ages and abilities can participate in this event by swimming laps, walking in the water, or just stay dry and make a donation and have the opportunity to earn fabulous prizes.

The Verizon Wireless SWIM FOR DIABETES is the major fundraiser for the Diabetes Association of Greater Cleveland, the only local and independent organization dedicated to helping the 1 in 13 people affected by type 1 and type 2 diabetes in this community. 100% of the proceeds raised from this event stay in Northeast Ohio and support diabetes risk assessments and education programs, fund local diabetes research, and support Camp Ho Mita Koda for children with diabetes. Participants can form teams or swim as individuals and develop a personal fundraising page on www.SwimForDiabetes.com to start collecting donations.

Everyone who raises $60 or more will receive a commemorative swim t-shirt. Participants who raise $100 or more receive a FREE ticket to the May 10th Cleveland Indians game. Participants who raise $200 or more have the opportunity to parade the field before the May 10th Indians game. The grand prize includes throwing out the first pitch at the May 10th Indians game and a VIP trip for two to the Cleveland Indians 2009 spring training camp in Goodyear, Arizona.
