Texas Hill Country Lavender Festival

Event Details
The idea for the Texas Hill Country Lavender Festival was born in 2008 with the idea of providing visitors with a relaxed fall day outing to enjoy the final lavender harvest of the season.
One of the best times of year to enjoy the Hill Country is during the fall. With it comes the fall lavender bloom for Johnson City-area lavender farms.
For the past two years, area farms have opened to the public the first Saturday in October. Guests cut fresh lavender, partake of lavender-themed food and drink, purchase lavender products, art and crafts, enjoy singer-songwriters and attend educational sessions at the farms. A farm visit takes young and old back to a simpler way of life with a closer appreciation of our earth.
Lavender is a much sought after art subject and, in conjunction with Blanco art galleries, a new venue has been added. This year, a plein-air show will take place at the farms on Friday and Saturday. Plein-air artists will capture the landscapes and essence of individual farms. From Saturday evening through Sunday afternoon at 4pm, art will be displayed in Blanco art galleries an offered for sale at silent auction. An art stroll and art preview will be held at the galleries on Saturday evening to begin the silent auction. Art will be professionally judged on Sunday morning, an artist reception will follow starting at noon and the silent auction will continue until 4pm. Lucky visitors will take home original art.
