4 Downtown Black Mountain Fireworks - Sunset hike at 7:00pm at the Swannanoa Valley Museum is a 1.5-mile, moderate hike to the peak of Sunset Mountain. Here, Museum guests will enjoy an old-fashioned watermelon cutting, and then stay to watch the sun set and the fireworks explode over the town of Black Mountain. Over dinner, hike leaders will share the history and vintage photographs of this most historic place.

Fireworks will begin at dark and will be visible from many locations in Downtown Black Mountain.

Over 30,000 people from all over America will be in attendance at the festival which grows in popularity each year.

6 - 7 208 Mile Blue Ridge Relay - The Blue Ridge Relay (BRR), which is one of the longest running relay races in the United States, takes place in the picturesque Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia and North Carolina. BRR consists of maximum 12 person (4 person minimum) teams that rotate through 36 transition areas as they cover the approximate 208 mile distance of the race.
