Prairiesta - Prairiesta is a celebration of Russell County history, heritage, and culture. This celebration has been held every ten years, since 1941. The 2011 Prairiesta celebrated Russell County's 140th Anniversary and the State of Kansas' 150th Anniversary!

28 Annual Flatland Car Show - Annual Flatland Car Show on Main Street Russell Kansas. Saturday Registration 9:00am to 12:00 noon. Awards at 3:00pm. Chili Cookoff and BBQ after the show at Auto Artistry 435 S Fossil Russell Kansas.

Cruise in at A&W Russell Kansas Friday at 6:00 pm. Entry fee $20.00. All proceeds go to Russell Rotary Club youth activities. Goody bags and dash plaques for first 100 entries. Food and entertainment at show. City wide garage sale during event.

Fossil Station Museum

An imposing looking structure, the museum building was formerly the county jail, built in 1907 from greenhorn limestone or "post rock." It has adapted nicely to the modern theories of museum functions.

This mural is painted on the side of the building bordering Cecil Bricker Park at 8th and Main in downtown Russell.

Gernon House

This structure is the oldest "post rock" stone house built in Russell in 1872 by Nicholas Gernon, a blacksmith and one of the original settlers. This lovely home has been fully restored to the period of the 1890s.
