24 Nature Day Camp - Nature Explorers - Does catching insects, discovering tracks, smelling flowers, identifying animal droppings, looking at birds through binoculars, and just being outside sound fun to you? If so, come and spend the morning being a naturalist and exploring nature! Wear clothes that can get wet and bring a water bottle, sunscreen and a snack.

16 - 17 Lean Horse Hundred, Half Hundred and 50K Ultra-Marathon - The Lean Horse Ultra Marathon is run in August every year in the Black Hills of South Dakota. It was first run in 2005. It features a 100-mile race, a 50-mile race, a 30-mile race, and a 20-mile race. The course is held on the George S. Mickelson Trail.

7 Patriot Day - The community is invited to attend Patriot Day on September 11th at the American Legion Post 71 facility. This day of remembrance begins at 5:30 pm with a community potluck. The evening follows with honoring our first responders and military - our heroes with a short program. Music by Amber Hulse, Maria March and the audience with anecdotes from the 1st responders and the audience.

19 Elderhostel Excavations at The Mammoth Site - Elderhostel volunteers excavate new areas of the sinkhole looking for more mammoths and other species of animals which became trapped and died in this sinkhole death trap 26,000 years ago. Elderhostel volunteers and Mammoth Site staff excavate from 8 a.m. - 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. - 4 p.m. during this timefram. Visiters are able to veiw first hand and ask questions of the volunteers and staff while they are excavating, preserving, screen washing, and working in the laboratory.
