SAND BAR STATE PARK - The park is on the mainland, or eastern end, of the sandbar between South Hero Island and the town of Milton. The sandbar itself is the result of the Lamoille River washing sediment downstream from the present Lamoille Valley. The river-borne material sank to the bottom as the river emptied into the lake, eventually filling the lake to create the marshland south and east of the park, and the sandbar to the west. Natural lake depths here, without the sandbar, would be over 150 feet.

Sprightly Steps - Although early settlers frowned upon the merriment of dancing, being as the work of the Devil, the tradition found its way to the Green Mountains.
From fancy balls or cotillions to kitchen junkets or tunks, people of all ages and backgrounds fell victim to the strains of the fiddle upon their souls.
Musician and local historian Adam Boyce will discuss the musical styles and dances kept alive by those who love these traditions.
