6FL0806010e009 - Fort Myers CALUSA 5K BUG Run and 1 mile Trail Walk - This 5K Race begins at 7:30 AM and travels along the trails at the Calusa Nature Center and a portion of the asphalt bike path on Ortiz and will be timed with Chrono Track Bib Tag Technology. All proceeds benefit the Fort Myers Metro-McGregor Kiwanis BUG (Bring UP Grades) program, designed to provide recognition to local elementary students who raise their grades to an acceptable range and maintain or continue to raise them from one grading period to the next. The group currently has BUG programs in operation at Orangewood, Colonial and Littleton Elementary schools and are actively seeking more schools to participate. Register online.

Clarita, a professional business consultant, stops by an outside café in NYC. There she intrudes on a man named Manny. Each menu has a story of a key point in time which had an impact in her life.

Eddie, who suffers from bipolar disorder, and Ramona, an evironmentalist, visit the South Pole to see the ice caps before global warming destroys them. Ramona is concerned about Eddie's medication because he is exhibiting strange behavior. Eddie attempts to give the earth one of his pills to make it feel better but he can't find the pills. He panics. Ramona assures him they can call the doctor and have more pills sent. Eddie then confesses he didn't take his medication that morning. He removes some of this clothing and says he wants to get naked ad play wth the polar bears in the snow. Ramona persuades him to get dressed and return to the hotel. Eddie says he will start a movement: Bipolars to Save the Earth.

4 - 13 Calusa Blueway Paddling Festival - The festival that celebrates Southwest Florida's 100 mile marked paddling trail is set to again showcase the Great Calusa Blueway.

This year's Calusa Blueway Paddling Festival will comprise a countywide series of events. Festival goers and paddlers will be able to find and participate in a variety of activities across the trail, which meanders from its southern tip at Bonita Springs to its northern-most points around Pine Island Sound and Charlotte Harbor.
