Steamtown Marathon
- The Steamtown Marathon is the 2nd largest Marathon in terms of overall finishers in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. This 26.2 mile USATF certified marathon drops 950' from start to finish has been in existence since 1996. The marathon starts in Susquehanna County at Forest City High School and travels through 14 small communities before the exciting finish in front of the Lackawanna County Courthouse in downtown Scranton, PA. Runner's World Magazine has consistently rated Steamtown as one of the top 10 fastest marathon courses in the USA. Typically, between 26% & 30% of runners qualify fior the Boston Marathon annually.
