20 Tri Hillsboro Triathlon - Searching for a reason to get in touch with Mother Nature? Look no further than the Hill County. The alluringly close-knit Texas town of Hillsboro welcomes athletes near and far to participate in the annual Tri Hillsboro Triathlon. The City of Hillsboro along with the Hillsboro Convention and Visitors Bureau will host the event with proceeds benefiting the youth, education and community initiatives in Hillsboro.

Course description: • The race begins at 7:30 a.m. at the Dairy Hill Boat launch, Spur 1947 off of FM 1947, where participants will swim 500 meters total, out and back to the transition area. • From the transition area, bikers will ride 16.2 miles along the beautiful rolling hills of Highways 1534, 933, 310 and 1947. • Lastly, Highway 1947 North will provide a 3.1 mile closed-course run across the glistening waters of Lake Aquilla.

While other triathlons can be costly, registration for the Tri Hillsboro Triathlon is only $55 up to April 1 and $65 for late registration up to May 4. If you're afraid to brave the entire race alone, entrants are welcomed to split up the different segments for a combined fee of $75 for a two-person team, or pay $100 for a three-person team. Sponsorships for the Tri Hillsboro Triathlon of various sizes are encouraged and appreciated. Sponsors will receive exposure for their company in all promotional efforts for the triathlon. 19TX0627064e001 - Hillsboro Handshakes and Hammers Hoedown - Habitat for Humanity of Hill County's "Handshakes and Hammers Hoedown", is a "family friendly barn dance" featuring award-winning recording artist Donna Kay, as well as local bands and solo artists. The event will be held the Saturday after the election, 6-9pm at the Hillsboro Civic Center (old Wal-Mart building). Admission by donation to help get Hill County's first Habitat home built!
