March

16 - 9 The Depot - Southern Broadway Theater Company is producing an original play about the city of Enterprise, AL that takes place in the early 1900's. It's filled with drama, suspense, plot twists, and is spiced with a few surprises along the way. We are holding this production in the brand new and very beautiful Enterprise High School Performing Arts Center. On March 1st of 2007, an F4 tornado ripped through the city of Enterprise, AL, demolishing the high school and leaving 9 people dead in its wake. After 4 years of holding classes in Fema trailers on borrowed land from the local college, students were finally able to walk through the doors of the newly constructed Enterprise High School in the fall of 2010. The Performing Arts Center is slated to be completed in November of 2010. "The Depot" will be one of the first productions held in the new auditorium. It is fitting that this production is a story filled with the rich history of the early years of Enterprise and the adversity that its citizens faced when the primary crop of cotton was attacked by the boll weevil. The early citizens of Enterprise overcame this adversity with courage and sheer strength of will as they made the bold change from cotton to the uncertain crop of peanuts. Out of the ruined cotton crops emerged a new and prosperous peanut crop that drives the local economy to this day. The last 4 years have been some of the most difficult and challenging years that the city has faced. We have come full circle and wish to embrace our rich history and the example of our town founders by celebrating the city's enduring spirit to overcoming and thriving in the face of adversity. Come enjoy a night of entertainment featuring "The Depot" on the stage of the new Performing Arts Center, Enterprise, Alabama. Friday and Saturday in early March. 16 St. Patricks Day One-Man Parade - Go green and have fun doing it. 12pm. Join us in beautiful Downtown Enterprise to celebrate the World's Smallest St. Patrick's Day Parade. Everyone is Irish on St. Patrick's Day! In Enterprise, Alabama we have been specializing in shenanigans since 1993, by hosting the only single-person parade.

Each year the Chamber opens up applications to nominate your favorite hometown Irishman (or Irishwoman) to be honored as the Grand Marshal of the World's Smallest St. Patrick's Day Parade! The Grand Marshal delights spectators with a festive march down the Irish Isle while waving the over-sized Irish flag and dancing in merriment. Okay - it's not the Irish Isle, it's E College Street, but it's every bit as magical! Costumes and Irish garb are not only allowed, but strongly encouraged. See less
