30 Holy City of the Wichitas' Easter Passion Play - The birth, life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, portrayed in pantomime, is performed outdoors under lights at the Holy City of the Wichitas while readers broadcast the script. 26 - 28 Arts for All Festival - Southwest Oklahoma's largest and most popular cultural event. This festival draws over 40,000 people and features visual arts, non-stop entertainment and tempting foods. More than 200 artists and area groups entertain visitors with a diversity of visual and performing arts. Visitors can view paintings, pottery, photography, sculptures, and enjoy terrific entertainment provided by performers from Southwest Oklahoma. The second weekend in May. 1 - 9 WIldlife Tours - The public will have an opportunity to view wildlife on a bus tour of Pinchot Loop in the Special Use Area. A unique feature of this season is the young buffalo and longhorn calves. The tours are led by members of the Association of the Friends of the Wichitas. 30 - 14 Under Cover of Darkness - These interpretive tours are open to the general public. Participants will have an opportunity to search for wildlife and other special features of the night. This tour is unique in that it describes an aspect of the Refuge that visitors do not normally experience. The tours are led by members of the Association of the Friends of the Wichitas. Interpreters will assist visitors in understanding the management practices of the Refuge for all species of animals and their habitats, especially those associated with the night.
Flashlights with red lens covers (red celophane will work) are recommended to increase safety moving to and from the bus. Tours will originate at the Visitor Center. Visitors may obtain a Refuge leaflet and map from one of the dispensers located at each of the five entrances.

22 - 12 Bugling Elk Tours - The Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge will be conducting "Bugling Elk" tours for the general public during September and October, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday. The tours will take participants into the Refuge's Special Use Area during the height of the elk mating season, thus, offering a unique opportunity for wildlife viewing.
At this time of year the bull elk compete for available females to form their harems. To vent their feelings of frustration and aggression, the bull elk produces a high-pitched whistling sound. Tour participants have the opportunity to hear the bugling and to search for elk in their natural habitat. Other species of wildlife such as bison, white-tailed deer, and wild turkey are not uncommon during the tour although weather conditions make wildlife viewing opportunities unpredictable.

The three-day event features traditional Native American activities including horse racing, fire dancing, hand games, storytelling, and dancing. 16 - 17 Wichita Mountain Classic Steer, Lamb, and Heifer Show - FIRST WEEKEND - Annually this livestock show draws entries from the entire southwest region. One of the most prestigious OCCA sanctioned livestock shows in the country. Youth under l8 years of age compete for cash awards, jackets, and use of a livestock trailer for one year. 8 AM.

Visitors also find many other activities to enjoy at this festive time of the year - The Messiah, the Living Christmas Tree, choral concerts, the Nutcracker, candlelight strolls at Fort Sill, and much more.
