16 - 18 Annual Mayfest - A 4-day event that is Caney's "homecoming." Program begins on Friday and includes the opening of food and craft booths in Wark Memorial Park on Friday and Caney Valley Historical Society Banquet Friday evening; varied events all day Saturday in Wark Park, including games for kids, food and crafts, vender booths, entertainment, etc.; Quilt and Art show, car show and historical society exhibits in downtown area; the Caney High School Alumni Banquet on Saturday evening; and races at Caney Valley Speedway. Celebration concludes with an inspiring and patriotic Memorial Day program on Monday in Veterans Park across from Sunnyside Cemetery. Music by the Caney Community Singers, color guard, special speaker.

18 Caney Mayfest Car Show - Saturday will be the Annual Caney Mayfest FREE Car Show presented by Arvest Bank The show will be from 9:00 am - 3:00 pm. Registration is from 8:30 am - 11:30 am. Dash Plaques to the First 80 Entries. Trophies will be awarded for Pre 1985 and 1985 to present in several different categories. There will be Door Prizes and Goody bags for those who enter.

30 - 31 KAN-OKLA 100 Mile Highway Sale - Pack a bag and spend a couple of days searching out all those treasures you've been longing to have! Southeast Kansans and northeast Oklahomans are getting together to host towns full of yard sales just for you.

The area will be packed with yard sales and flea markets with the route running from Sedan, KS to Coffeyville, KS south to Nowata, OK east to Bartlesville, OK north on Hwy 75 thru Dewey, Copan, OK thru Caney, KS north 4 miles to Caney Valley Antique Power Associations flea market where camping will be available and on north to Independence,

KS. The towns of Sedan, Dearing, Independence,Caney, Dewey, Coffeyville, Lenapah and Nowata are also planning city wide sales. And several of the towns will have large areas along the highways for sales to set up with maps available in each town.

31 Annual Old-Fashioned Ice Cream Social and Block Party - Come join us for Home made ice cream and cake. 21 Annual Christmas Parade - 7:00 PM. It will feature a Lions Club chili feed between 5 and 7 p.m., the largest night Christmas parade in Southeast Kansas, the crowning of Mr. and Miss Christmas and lighting of the annual Community Christmas tree along with visits and photos with Santa. Gen. George H. Wark Memorial Park

This city park was established in 1919 in memory of Caney's Company D who participated in World War I. Gen. George H. Wark organized Co. D, 3rd Kansas Infantry and mustered the first units of the Kansas Army National Guard into federal service at Caney's Elk's Hall, May 19, 1917

The first city jail was built in 1888 of native sandstone at a cost of $27.00. The town "Marshall" was W.V. Toner.

Opera House/Elk's Hall

The popular Truskett Opera House which was built in 1907 burned along with other businesses in 1910 having a $50,000 loss. The Caney Elk's Club acquired the opera house facilities and rebuilt a building for club use. Their "Elk's Hall"
