14 Joggin for the Noggin - Joggin for the Noggin is the annual fundraiser to benefit the Mary Lea Johanning Scholarship. This scholarship benefits Atchison High School graduating senior women that are attending a Kansas university or college. Scholarship recipients are selected based on their academic standings, extracurricular involvement, and qualities Mary Lea represented.

- Chip timing again for all 5K participants (No chip timing for 2K)
- Registration fee is $25 for 5K participants (run or walk) and $15 for 2K fun run/walkers through August 25
- Fee will increase $5 for the 5K and 2K on August 26. Online registration closes September 24
- Packet Pick-up will be race morning only, beginning at 7 AM
- Fees include a race shirt (must register online by September 10th to guarantee shirt; shirts not picked - up by 9AM on race day will be forfeited)
- Awards to age division winners in the 5K
- Awards will be given to 2K winners 12 years and under
- no bicycles, tricycles, or skateboards

Atchison County Courthouse

One of 13 Kansas courthouses designed by George P. Washburn, this ashlar limestone building was completed in 1897, and is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. The clock tower was raised an extra 12 feet from the original design so that it could be seen downtown.

The restored Santa Fe Depot, long a community landmark, serves as a Visitor Information Center and houses the Chamber of Commerce offices.

This museum in the restored Santa Fe Depot traces the history of Atchison County. Exhibits highlight Atchison's transition from a bend in the Missouri River to a busy commercial center for steamboats, westward-bound wagon trains and the railroads.

Atchison State Fishing Lake and Wildlife Area

A 66 acre lake contains largemouth bass, channel catfish, redear sunfish, bluegill sunfish and black crappie. The wildlife area has about 136 acres of grass and timber open to hunting.
