Schuetzen Park Historic Site

This site holds many special memories for generations of local German-Americans and other area residents. In 1870, the Davenport Schützengesellschaft (later called the Schützen Verein) created this "Schützenpark"

Colonel Davenport

Tour guides recall the army fort construction that brought George Davenport to Rock Island on the Mississippi (now home to the Rock Island Arsenal) in 1816. Davenport developed a prosperous fur trade with local American Indians and in 1833

Vander Veer Botanical Park

Historic botanical park with conservatory and growing house, outdoor gardens, fountains, and sculpture. Nationally recognized rose garden and Hosta Glade, and the largest public rose garden in the Quad Cities. Admission fee for conservatory only.

Figge Art Museum

Formerly the Davenport Museum of Art, the Figge Art Museum is housed in a new facility overlooking the Mississippi River. Regionalist, Haitian, Mexican Colonial, American, and contemporary art collections, along with extensive traveling exhibit schedule. Restaurant, museum store.
