founded by Eric and Jessica Dionne, who both have experience with investigating the paranormal and decided to form their own group. 17 Strokes of Hope Charity Art Auction to benefit homeless families - United Way of Onslow County’s CAN-DO (Community Advisory Network Developing Onslow) Homeless Coalition will host its first Strokes of Hope Charity Art Auction March 2 from 11-7PM at Northwoods United Methodist Church. This event will include light food, music and the opportunity to purchase art.

Benefitting the Solutions for Stability Initiative, a program which works to rapidly rehouse homeless families with children, the art show will showcase and allow attendees to purchase art by local artists and children within the school system. Art on display will depict the artist’s interpretation of what “Hope” looks like.

Last year, 406 homeless children were identified in the Onslow County School System, which doesn’t include non-school aged children and their parents. Proceeds from the event will help build self-sufficiency and assist with resources to house local families.

2 - 9 Baseball/Softball Registration - Onslow County Parks and Recreation will hold Baseball/Softball Registration Saturday March 16 and 23, 2013.Regisrtation sites are Dixon Middle, Trexler Middle, Morton Elementary Schools and Onslow Pines Park. 6 Easter Egg Hunts - The Onslow County Parks and Recreation Department are sponsoring Five Free Easter Egg Hunts for Onslow County on Saturday. The first Easter Egg Hunt will be at Richlands/Steed Park beginning 9:00 a.m. The second Hunt will be at Onslow Pines Park beginning at 11:00 a.m. The third Hunt will be held at Stump Sound Park beginning at 1:00 p.m. The fourth Hunt will be held at Hubert By-Pass Park beginning at 3:00p.m. The fifth hunt will be held at Deppe Park at 5:00 p.m. There will be lots of prizes and candy, and a visit from the Easter Bunny (bring camera). 9 - 27 Onslow Senior Games - Entry forms are now available at Onslow County Parks and Recreation, Onslow County Senior Services and Jacksonville Recreation and Parks for the Senior Games. You may enter in several categories: Literary Arts, Visual Arts, Heritage Arts, Performing Arts and Athletic Events. 4 Hershey's Track and Field Meet - Sponsored by the Onslow County Parks and Recreation Department and the North Carolina Parks and Recreation Society. The local meet is scheduled for Tuesday with the rain date scheduled for Thursday at White Oak High School. Registration for the meet will be from 5:00 – 5:30 pm. with the meet beginning at 5:30 pm. 15 City to the Sea Bike Ride - Onslow County Parks & Recreation Department, The Bicycle Shop, Food Lion, and Hammocks Beach State Park will be sponsoring a bike ride on Sunday. Registration for the ride will begin at 1:30 p.m. and the ride will begin at 2:00 p.m. The ride will originate at the Food Lion parking lot on the corner of Piney Green and Halltown Roads and the ride will finish at Hammocks Beach State Park in Swansboro.
