The Blue Store was built in 1884 by John Henry and his sons. The general store originally sold clothes, shoes, hats, and dry goods. Eventually Henry began leasing the building to Winter and Company of Chicago who expanded and gave it the Blue Store name. In August of 1925 after the company opened another store in Chicago, the Blue Store began the process of closing. The Blue Store was once said to be the largest store between Denver and Kansas City.
