Sherman County Courthouse

Sherman County was organized in 1873 during a period of pronounced settlement in the state. Loup City was selected as county seat and a courthouse was built the following year. However, it burned down the day it was completed. A brick courthouse was constructed in 1878. In 1919

The museum collection is housed in several buildings that have been saved from around the county and moved to the museum site on the edge of Loup City. These include the Hawk Schoolhouse, the Ohlsen/Jenner House and the Austin School.

Bowman Recreation Area

Bowman Lake is a 23-acre area lying adjacent to the Loup River and features a 20-acre manmade lake. It is located one mile west of Loup City Bowman Recreation Area offers picnicking, fishing and primitive camping. There are 10 non-pad sites without electricity available.
