Jubilee Cluster Dog Show
- The Montgomery Kennel Club is pleased to announce that it will hold its annual AKC licensed dog show in Montgomery at the Garrett Coliseum Thanksgiving weekend – November 25, 26, and 27, 2022. Thousands of dogs will be here from all over the country to compete for Best of Breed, Best in Group, and Best in Show. “We are delighted to welcome spectators back to the Montgomery Kennel Club’s annual dog show here in Montgomery,” said Molly Martin, MKC president. “Not only is this a fun activity for families, but it is the perfect place to talk to breed experts about topics such as training, grooming, and the right breed for your lifestyle. An AKC dog show is also a great place to start your search for a responsible breeder.” The Jubilee Cluster is held in partnership with the Cahaba Valley Kennel Club out of Birmingham, AL. The event is comprised of three days of judging over several rings of dogs competing against each other in the same breed and the same group type (Working, Toy, Sport, Herding, Non-Sport, Hound, and Terrier) and also for Best in Show. Dogs and their handlers will be coming here to Montgomery from all over the country to compete in this prestigious event, and it is expected to attract upwards to 4,000 entries – a significant impact to the River Region by the canine community. Dog shows like the Jubilee Cluster celebrate the companionship of dogs, promote responsible dog ownership, and help all dogs through the promotion of good breed health and breed preservation. While the dog show is, at its heart, a competition, it is also an opportunity for the public to engage with a vast array of breeds, owners and handlers. There is no finer way to appreciate the various levels of dog training and to enjoy the beauty of a sound, healthy, well bred animal… truly, the best of their breed. The Jubilee Cluster will also feature vendors, canine health clinics, and three days of FastCAT tests. FastCAT is essentially the 100 – yard dash for dogs where dogs are tested on their ability to complete a 100 yard timed run in a safe, controlled atmosphere. AKC registered dogs earn points for each run determined by their speed and their size. Dogs are also welcome to participate in $5.00 fun runs. There is no charge to attend the dog shows, but $5.00 is charged by the Garrett Coliseum for parking. For more information about the Montgomery Kennel Club’s Jubilee Cluster, contact Frank Dreyfus, Show Chair at Jubilee@montgomerykennelclub.org or visit our website at montgomerykennelclub.org.
