Several things work against men. They tend to smoke and drink more than women. They don't seek medical help as often as women. Some men define themselves by their work, which can add to stress. As part of our fraternity's national Social Action Program, we have a vested interest in highlighting the areas of health risks for not only men but also women as well of all races and ages in the Northern Alabama region. As part of this forum, we are planning to incorporate presentations by specialized medical physicians, dentists, and health & massage therapists and optometrists and question/answer segments from the audience. Annual Caribbean Day at The Park
- The Caribbean Association of North Alabama Inc (CANA) will host the largest North Alabama Family Fun Day - an Alabamian event from a Caribbean perspective, on Sunday from 11 am to 8pm at John Hunt Park Festival Grounds.The purpose of the event is to introduce the public to the Caribbean culture, cuisine and lifestyle in a family-friendly environment. A host of vendors selling curried, jerk, and stewed delicacies, as well as scores of other food and non-food items, will be on site to serve the festive crowd. There will be a string of free activities such as face-painting, arts & crafts, Caribbean board games, musical chairs and a dozen others geared towards children and the entire family. Attendees will be treated with a slew of Caribbean entertainment, like live reggae band, Caribbean dancing and performances by Soca Music artist. Expect an amazing display of Caribbean culture and experience. There will be musical sounds pulsating the crowd with cool West Indian music on the backdrop of the warm summer breeze. The event, which has lured tourist to Huntsville, is expected to attract Caribbean cuisine enthusiasts, as far as Georgia and Tennessee to participate in the event's activities. Heritage Ringers Annual Handbell Concert
- The Heritage Ringers of Huntsville, a non profit community concert Handbell Choir will present its annual Holiday Concert Monday at 7:30 pm. The concert, will be held in the Church Sanctuary at 607 Airport Road.The Program includes tradition music, arrangements of classical favorites and original compositions for handbells. - Perhaps one of the most popular fundraisers at Burritt, Holiday Magic has become a holiday tradition for many. These annual dinners in the Mansion, in the Historic Park and in the Old Country Church are a must for families, supper clubs and friends. Each year guests enjoy the delicious food along with a visit from Father Christmas and the delightful music of carolers. The dinners in the Historic Park are family style and relaxed while the atmosphere for the more upscale Mansion dinners is decorative and formal.
