Historic Home & Building Tour
- INTERACTIVE GUIDED WALKING TOUR. Historic home, buildings & businesses Sign Up NOW. 2nd Saturday of the Month. Hear the stories about this small western town, once called the "Biggest Little Town in the State of Arizona." Local historian and storyteller, Karen Leff, the owner of the Cottonwood Hotel, the oldest hotel in Cottonwood, will take you on a trip to the past with this interactive HISTORIC BUILDING & HOME TOUR. Learn the history of the 1925 hotel (est. since 1917), a historic 1928 Spanish Colonial Revival home, working artist gallery, remnants of an old 1923 cellar, part of an old secret bootlegging tunnel, a 1929 haunted jail with Al Capone's name carved on an outside cell wall, while listening to bootlegging and ghost stories and more. The tour combines the old with the new. You will have interactive experiences, touring historic reuse through some of the local businesses. You'll meet local shop keepers who'll share their hospitality with appetizers and drink. You'll sample healthy & fresh flavors of Verde Valley Olive Oil Traders and stroll through wine tasting rooms (extra $$ for wine tasting). Combining the old with the new, you'll meet local shop keepers and working artist who'll share their hospitality with appetizers and drink, touring through historic reuse with local businesses. -Cultural diversity contributes to the thriving and sustainable Old Town businesses and neighborhood. -Limited tickets can be reserved in advance. Also, the "Made in Clarkdale" Art Show will be happening in the Art Building at the fairgrounds as well on Saturday 14th. Admission to this event is free as well! Come and support your local artists. Crystals for Critters - Enter to win something beautiful and help an animal in need by participating in our raffle for the critters. Bring dog or cat food of any size or donate to the cause and receive a raffle ticket for a chance to win something neat! 100% of the proceeds from the raffle will be to the benefit of The Yavapai County Humane Society. The raffle will be at the Karmic Beads & Gems Booth inside the main gem show building. Our planet has many amazing treasures that are hidden, in many cases, just beneath our feet. Almost every country in the world has been able to unearth unique specimens specific to their locale, and the earth’s bounty from much of the world will be on display and available for sale at the show. Verde Valley Nature & Birding Festival
- Verde Valley Birding & Nature Festival celebrates nature with workshops and field trips where expert guides take visitors to the area's birding hot spots. The annual event is presented by Arizona State Parks and the Cottonwood Chamber of Commerce. More than 70 field trips are offered throughout the 4-day event, many led by nationally recognized and local experts. From the basics to the expert, there are classes and trips that will fit anyone's skills. There are also geology trips, butterfly and plant walks, photography, an exhibit hall and an opportunity to shop at a variety of vendors during the event. Dead Horse Ranch State Park is the base camp for this event and offers camping facilities, fishing and other amenities for families and individuals. Verde Valley Days
- Verde River Day promotes preservation and care of the environment by showcasing informative exhibits on the Verde's unique riparian habitat. Some of the day's events include a climbing wall, organized canoe and kayak rides, sand castle building, and nature-based exhibits. Guests of all ages are welcome to fish the lagoon, which will be freshly stocked with catfish. Poles, bait and tackle are provided for all ages. No fishing license is needed. There will be a wide range of entertainment throughout the day. Enjoy the Verde Valley's best pancake breakfast. Non-Profit Food vendors will be cooking up Indian fry bread, hot dogs and hamburgers for nominal fees. Try pottery making by hand and take your creation home with you .
