September

12 - 14 CAMA Fall Festival - For most of the year, the Connecticut Antique Machinery Association grounds remain a quiet location to sit and ponder the impact and importance of historic machinery on our everyday lives. However, late in September, it is transformed into a noisy, bustling cacophony of engines and saws and tractors and all things mechanical. CAMA literally comes to life. Most all of CAMA's own exhibits are in operation to amaze all.

In the Industrial Hall, all of the stationary steam engines spring to life. In the 5-bay shed and oilfield power buildings, the one-lunger "hit and miss" engines and the impressive Wolverine Diesel literally explode into action. Over in the Diebold Hall, the museum- and member-owned tractors are all spit-shined and raring to go.

On the narrow gauge railroad tracks, the Hawaii #5 lurches into motion and belches the smoke and steam to prove it. We hope to be able to give tender rides again. (As a backup, our 1922 Plymouth Diesel engine will be available for a ride down the track). The mining museum opens it's doors to record crowds. And that's just CAMA's contribution!

In addition to the CAMA collection, outside exhibitors from all over the Northeast converge on 8 acres of park-like grounds with their own tools, gas engines, steam engines, tractors and every other machine imaginable, to fill out the display and add to the excitement. Every year there are new surprises.
