22 Heartland Museum presents Clarion: Wrestling Powerhouse - Clarion, Iowa – Heartland Museum will host Clarion: Wrestling Powerhouse at the Heartland Museum Community Room in Clarion, Iowa on July 1, 2017 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. The event is free to the public.

Special guest is Dan McCool, who has been around wrestling his entire life. Growing up in Clarion, McCool has over 30 years covering the sport of wrestling, including for the Des Moines Register. In 2009, McCool began a new career as an author and published the first edition of "Reach For The Stars: The Iowa High School State Wrestling Tournament" in 2011. He also published several editions of "Wrestlers, Clear The Mats…", a compilation of what's believed to be everyone who has participated in the Iowa High School State Wrestling Tournament since 1921.

20 Hat Tales – Remembering the Iowa Hat Lady - Clarion, Iowa – Heartland Museum will host "Hat Tales" at the Heartland Museum Community Room in Clarion, Iowa on July 29, 2017, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. The event is free to attend and light refreshments will be served.

Alvina Sellers, named "Iowa’s Hat Lady", was from Clarion. She gave many presentations on her 6,000 plus collection of hats. Some of her hats are on display in the museum in Alvina's Hat Parlor and Millinary rooms. Join us as we remember her entertaining programs, "wear your best hat!"
